Long Beach is home to Nickerson Beach and Ocean Beach Park. Nickerson Beach is found on the south shore of Long Island. It spans about a half-mile and gets a lot of sun throughout the year. The adjoining park is home to protected species of birds and greenery, giving this beach park a distinct character. Patrons enjoy wildlife watching, swimming and camping, and there are public amenities to support these fun activities, such as ball fields, beach volleyball courts, personal lockers and even luxury cabanas. Nickerson Beach covers an area of 55 acres, and each one is filled with fun. Ocean Beach Park is a four-mile span of lovely white sand, featuring some of the most beautiful views that can be found along the Eastern seaboard. It hosts free weekly concerts in summer months, and it is favorite hangout for surfers because of its large, engaging waves. Ocean Beach Park has a pier that was especially designed and built for fishing. It is also a place where bona fide leagues come to play volleyball. Ocean Beach Park features a boardwalk where people can be seen on rollerblades and bicycles, living aloud the typical dream and ideal of what summertime is all about.
